To augment the quality primary education to meet the objectives of Education For All (EFA) and reduce the out-of-school children which comprises with dropout plus never enrolled children, honorable Governor of Odisha launches a literacy campaign “Gyanalok Scheme” under the flagship of Govt. of Odisha. Keeping in view to improve the literacy rate and to reach the education to all, Bhubaneswar Institute of Industrial Technology(BIIT) is prominently implementing the Scheme by adopting two tribal villages i.e Totabadi and Vejiput of Talabasta Grampanchayat in Banki Sub-division of Cuttack district. From the very outset of the implementation of “Gyanalok”, all the stake holders of BIIT including all the staff members involved in the process actively. The BIIT team has discussed and interacted with the beneficiaries, parents, communities, PRI members etc. on different issues on primary education. Why the children have dropout from the school system or in spite of school going age why a child is not interested to go school? Whether the school is not attracting them or whether the economic condition of their parents doesn’t permit them to attend the school? By taking many questions in mind, the BIIT team has visited one Sevashram School at Totabadi. That school is having class I to V with 40 students, but all the classes is integrating only in a single class room.
